Project Summary: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) [more recently called metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)] is a condition of fat build-up in the liver not due to excessive alcohol consumption. It can lead to serious liver damage including liver cirrhosis and liver failure as well as to liver cancer. This study will assess the rates and factors associated with NAFLD in people living with HIV. The study will use a non-invasive ultrasound test to measure liver fibrosis (scarring) and amount of fat in the liver.
Inclusion Criteria:
Be 18 years or older at the time of the research study visit

Project Summary:People living with HIV (PLWH) are faced with the health disparity of high anal cancer/dysplasia rates. It is known the human papillomavirus (HPV) is the causative agent for anal cancer/dysplasia but many PLWH are not vaccinated and there is limited data on its efficacy and effectiveness in PLWH. This project seeks to address this health disparity by understanding uptake barriers, improving their understanding of possible HPV vaccination benefits, and to determine the vaccine’s efficacy and effectiveness.
Inclusion Criteria:
18 years old or older
Person living with HIV
Have not completed an HPV vaccination series

Project Summary: Obesity is a well-known risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and both are increasing in people living with HIV (PLWH) at rates higher than the general population. Tirzepatide (TZP) is a novel drug for achieving weight reduction. The drug is FDA- approved for certain individuals who are overweight or have diabetes. This study is a 16 week prospective cohort study of tirzepatide in 12 overweight or obese PLWH whose HIV is well controlled on antiretroviral therapy. The study will look at change in weight and in inflammatory and cardiometabolic parameters over 12 weeks.
Inclusion Criteria:
Well controlled HIV infection
Overweight (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) with at least one weight-related condition (dyslipidemia, hypertension, cardiovascular disease of obstructive sleep apnea)
